Happy Spring Everyone. Its been a busy couple of months since our last Latest News post. We have been delivering Positive Parties® ‘Training With A Difference’ to the usual wide range of clients from the public sector – Belfast City Council, to community carers in the Voluntary sector and children at Foyle Hospice, who have lost a close relative, to name just a few. As always the feedback is fantastic, which makes us very happy here at PPHQ.
Denise was delighted to be asked to do 2 speaking roles as part of Derry & Strabane Enterprise Week in February, organised by Derry City & Strabane District Council. As Female Entrepreneur of the Year, her remit was to tell the audience how she took a wacky idea, delivering training in ‘party style’ environment and turned it into a business, with all the ups and downs along the way! She was also featured in the February edition of Local Women, with the very apt heading ‘Confessions of a Party Girl!’ We loved the title!
The highlight in this Latest News though is Denise’s trip to Dublin for the Social Media Summit at the beginning of March. Here goes from Denise herself!…….. “It was amazing, wonderful, fast, friendly, head frying, overwhelming, fantastic, such fun, inspiring, informative, interesting and rumbling! Yes, rumbling! I arrived back from Dublin, accelerated, excited and exhausted and rumbled!! My head was buzzing with all this social media stuff! Some I’d heard before, loads I hadn’t! My brain was on overdrive trying to process all this information, of which some is relevant to me and Positive Parties Limited and some is not. So the question is HOW do I decide what to take out of these 2 days. Well, after an ‘weird’ Monday and Tuesday of fuzzy headaches and not knowing where to start, even though I am an NLP Practitioner and know all about chunking down, strategies etc I decided to watch the key note speaker Ted Rubin’s speech again and it summed everything up for me. All the other wonderful speakers had great messages throughout too, each in their own fields of expertise. Special thanks to Ian Cleary, Jenny Brenan, Antonio Calero, Melonie Dodaro, Vikki Taylor Brian Franzo, Emeric Ernoult, Naomi Gilmor, Wayne Denner, Scott Smith, Julie Bramble, Joanne Sweeney Burke, Steve Dotto, Ian Anderson Grey.
So what was it about Ted’s speech. Well Ted’s focus is on relationships. He uses the hashtag #RonR Return On Relationships and he emphasizes that ‘one to one’ is still alive and well. He says we must use people’s names and that a reputation is not what people say and share, its how you act. I love his saying ‘JUST BE NICE’ I say this myself when delivering Positive Parties®, I use the phase “It’s nice to be nice” as this creates harmony in workplaces, schools and communities.
I loved how Ted reminds us to pick up the phone and have conversations with people. Ask them, ‘How can I help you today?’ As a big chitty chatter myself that is not an issue! Mind you, looking at data and tracking everything on social media are my procrastination’s! Ted said we must hear people, make it about them, pay attention to people, make it personal. Then take this data and use it again.
Ted talked of STOP being afraid, step up and find a brand champion. How marketing is communication and conversation is the best content. Be fearless!
What I LOVED about Ted’s presentation was how he talked about being childlike. The whole concept of Positive Parties is about taking people back to being childlike and learning NLP (neuro linguistic programing) and CBT (cognitive beghavioural therapy) tools to have a positive mental attitude to life. Ted talked about day dreaming, doodling, thinking and he even skipped up and down the floor! Going to the beach to get creative, another thing I love to do, was emphasized by this wise man! Quiet times are when creativity really takes off! We just have to look at children, he said, to realize this fact.
The commonalities continued, Ted used the word AWARENESS also used by Steve Dotto in his inspiring talk and this is always a main focus in Positive Parties® workshops. And the word used by most of the speakers was ‘Authenticity.’ again a word I love and live by.
To sum up, Ted’s comment ‘If you are not having fun you are doing something wrong’ makes my heart sing, because that is why I set up Positive Parties® in the first place, to bring new brain training tools awareness and mindfulness into people’s lives but do this in a FUN and interactive way so that people can remember and retain what they have learnt.
So, in relation to social media, to quote Ted, ‘Just be Nice’ ‘Be social’ ‘Metaphorically make people/customers skip’ Skipping makes you happy!’ Oh how I love to skip!
As for my lessons from the Social Media Summit. I met many wonderful inspiring people (too many to mention). Some were friends I meet on Twitter and at #Irishbizparty conferences and #Belfasthour meet ups and of course new social media friends I am now connecting with daily. Yes, I am still processing all the information, trying new tools and doing what I need to do to help get my message and the positive vibes out there, BUT most of all, I’ll keep engaging with people. And since you gave out your phone number Ted, I’ll be giving you a call sometime soon saying ‘How can I help you today?’ My dream is, and always has been, to franchise Positive Parties®, go global and take this ‘Training With A Difference’ concept to the USA!
Huge thanks to the #SMSummitIRL 2016 organisers. Firstly Samantha Kelly @TweetingGoddess for following her dreams, you are inspiring & awesome Sam.
