Our exciting news this month is that Positive Parties Founder & CEO Denise Devlin, was a finalist for Female Entrepreneur of the Year 2014 Award in the Strabane Business Awards. Although she did not receive it this year, she was delighted to be nominated and a finalist with the 5 other enterprising women. The winner was Anita McShane ‘Giggles & Wiggles’ childcare facility, so congratulations to Anita. When the result was called out Denise’s 11 year daughter Emer (who was excited to attend the Awards Ceremony) sat on her knee and said “Mummy, you may not have won tonight, but you have won in my heart.” Awwww, positively lovely indeed!
It’s been a busy September and October for Positive Parties. At the beginning of the month Denise was speaker at The Inspire Business Conference along with successful Entrepreneurs Grainne Kelly, Bubble Bum and Oscar Woolley, Suki Tea. Her interactive Conference opener went down a treat with the participants and Denise also relayed how much Positive Parties as a business benefited from the Inspire Programme.
Positive Parties participated in the final showcase of the Generations For Peace Project in The Play House, Derry, which was led and facilitated by Cooperation Ireland and the extension had us working with 2 primary schools in the Omagh District Council area with primary school children, their parents and grandparents. This was such a successful Peace 3 funded project that Cooperation Ireland are now looking into ways of it being mainstreamed in the schools.
Lots of networking last month too and Denise attended the Institute of Public Health Ireland, Open Forum in the Titanic, Belfast on the 14th October. She met with many like minded people and was able to spread the word about how Positive Parties ‘Change Your Vibes’ is the ultimate ‘Training with a Difference’ in promoting and teaching NLP and CBT tools and techniques for positive mental health and wellbeing.
At the Legal- Island HR Exchange, in the Ramada Hotel, the Positive Parties team met with many HR Managers who were interested in what we do and how we deliver our training. The uniqueness of our delivery and the very favourable testimonials from Legal-Island staff – Scott Alexander, Head of Learning & Development and Allison Sutherland, Customer Relationship Consultant, have certainly put us on the map. Denise is presenting at Legal-Island’s Dublin HR Network on 10th December at Arthur Cox’s offices in Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin 2.
Positive Parties workshops last month for staff ranged from clients such as cooperate company Allianz as part of their Health & Wellbeing month to our regular customers Western Education Library Boards, this time Steelstown Primary School, as part of a Positive Health & Wellbeing Development Day.
Some feedback from Allianz is as follows: “Denise provided a great session & involved the whole the whole group. There were plenty of learning tools which were interactive & then discussed and I hope to use now.” “I really liked the atmosphere, how relaxed it was and how I laughed.” “I enjoyed the interactive and fun learning.”
November is a ‘full on’ planning and networking month with delivery too and many bookings coming in for 2015. We are also updating our training manuals for the Positive Parties franchise and meeting potential franchisees.
