Spring is here! And doesn’t it FEEL good! The Positive Parties Team have noticed that due to the lighter evening and the lovely mild weather that we have been having the past couple of weeks, it really does put people in GOOD form! So with all this renewed energy what can we do to keep up the positive vibes and ‘spring’ our way all through 2014. Here’s a few suggestions:
1. Exercise – Now that’s its spring there are NO excuses. Our Founder/CEO Denise felt she was always talking about the importance of exercise while delivering Positive Parties workshops, but she was so busy last month travelling with work that she was wasn’t making time for any exercise and thus not ‘walking the talk!’ This didn’t sit well with her as she understands the need to be authentic, so she is excising NOW for sure!
2. Go outside – being in nature in spring is so wonderful and it keeps us grounded! A tip for being outside is – while excising leave the headset/earphones at home, enjoy listening to the birds, animals and all the sounds associated with being outside.
3. Meditate – we shower every morning before we start our day! We clean our bodies BUT do we clean our minds. Meditation is so important and can be done so easily when we learn how. Google ‘meditation’ and you will find loads of resources and you can research which form of mediation suits you.
So what have we been up too? Well February was a really was a busy month. We got off to a great start by being asked back to Knockloughrim Primary School again this year, which was great because we love the energy in that school. The Principal, the staff and the pupils are just full of positive vibes.
We began our project with Cooperation Ireland called ‘Connecting 4 Culture’ involving teenagers and their parents in schools in Castlereagh and Lisburn. The 4 schools we delivered Positive Parties workshops to were – Friends, Lagan College, Dundonald High School and St Colms, Twinbrook. The feedback has been excellent and we are not finished yet as there are the showcase to prepare for which are happening in May.
Positive Parties Founder/CEO was in Dublin delivering an interactive talk on The Power of Positivity to McDonald’s Restaurants’ Irelands at the launch of their Women’s Leadership- Network. This was held in The Residence, St Stephen’s Green. All the McDonald’s staff and guests enjoyed this fun & different way of delivery and participated in the tasks to assist them is being and staying positive.
The ‘YES C’ project with Derry Youth and Community Workshop with a Cultural Arts Show, enabling the young people to show case their strengths and talents is near completion with the student s now organising the charity show where they will perform their talents and raise money for Foyle Search & Rescue.
In February we created a new Positive Parties @Dance leaflet, updated our general Positive Parties leaflets, ordered lots of new stock (including our famous purple bugs), did a positive coaching Skype call to a Wrestling team in Missouri, USA, attended 2 Mind Body & Spirit Shows in The Millennium Derry – Londonderry and The Waterfront, Belfast (where we met lots of lovely people), attended the Gates Of Derry Irish Dancing Championship, promoting our Positive Parties @Dance leaflet, one to one coaching session with Irish dancers, and there was lots of delivery too! Phew!
March has been more one one coaching for dancers, delivery and our Founder/CEO Denise did training in Mini Me Yoga and is now an ambassador to teach parent, teachers, childcare providers how to do 15 minutes a day yoga with children. Watch this space for more info.
What’s ahead this month and next is working with Irish dancers for The Worlds which start on the 12th April and we have workplaces- corporate, public and voluntary all booking for their teams. Plus we will be talking to schools re booking for their ‘Go For It’ Positive Parties workshops for the Primary 7’s in the summer term.
