Although the colours of autumn are still with us, winter is here with a blast! Cold frosty mornings, hats, scarves and winter boots, blazing fires in our living rooms and hot soups and stews simmering on the cooker! Those are some of our favourite things about winter anyway and it’s like life actually, we all have favourite & positive experiences but also times and things we have to do and don’t like! For example in winter, going out to scrape ice off the car on a cold morning before work, coming home in the dark and its only 5pm, small things that can irritate us but it comes with the seasons and we take it in our stride because we know, as the very inspiring Antony de mello says ‘this too will pass.’
Well our Sept and October were so busy we didn’t have a moment to even catch up on Latest News! We did take some time off on Halloween Break though. For the Positive Parties team we realize the importance of rest and rejuvenation, especially when we preach about work life balance and the importance of self care so much when delivering Positive Parties programmes. So, we learned the hard way last month as Positive Parties founder Denise got sick for 4 days at the end of October! She realizes now it was just her bodies’ way of saying ‘Slow Down!’ We can assure you, she is now listening and ‘walking the talk!’
So what have we been up to, well where do we start? The variety of our delivery over the past 6 weeks has been amazing and humbling because we LOVE every minute of it! We did conferences, corporates, schools (P7 Positive Transfer Workshop), youth, communities, one to one positive coaching sessions for champion Irish Dancers (one coming up from as far away as Galway!)
Our Cooperation Ireland’s ‘Generations for Peace’ Show cases for the pupils, grandparents and parents went down a treat in both the Playhouse Derry and The Silver Birches, Omagh. We start a new project with Cooperation Ireland before Christmas called ‘Connecting 4 Culture’ involving teenagers and their parents in schools in Castlereagh and Belfast.
Our bookings for Positive Parties @Conferences, for Argento Contemporary Jewellery Company, was fantastic and Denise and Richard had a wonderful time with this fun and energetic team. They all loved the interactive exercises, high energy, motivation and fun after a long day and a half of power point presentations and serious discussions around finances, products , data bases and security. The Positive Parties session warmed the 75 staff for their pre Christmas party later that evening.
Our next corporate Positive Parties @Work workshop was for First Source HR Team, another very fun and vibrant team, at the end of their Strategy Day! And yes, they leaned new tool and techniques on how to be and stay positive as their roles in HR can be very challenging and stressful at times plus they laughed and laughed and had such fun. Here is some feedback from the session:-
“A very good few hours of fun, was good laugh and learnt new skills”
“Really good fun, and would recommend it to other departments.”
“It was lots of fun and very informative. I will remember you advice when I am feeling down.”
“Good day, very thought provoking and something for everyone.”
Our next big project starts next week with Derry Youth and Community Workshop. It is all very exciting as its funded through Culture For All and its call the YES C project – Youth (& Community) Empowering Strengths & Creativity, with the trainees delivering their own YES C Arts Show before Christmas. We also also have corporates wanting more, communities needing us for a positivity boosts, existing customers loving the feedback from their staff and demanding more programmes, plus we are planning now for 2104 with delivery trips to England and Scotland in the pipeline.
