Happy 2nd Birthday to Positive Parties. We launched our logo and website on the 22nd October 2010 in the City of Culture office, by The Guildhall in Derry-Londonderry. It was a wonderful day with family, friends and customers all coming together to give the company a good send off. Now 2 years later, we have delivered hundreds of our fun workshops in seven different counties and we have had queries from Dublin, parts of England, USA & Australia about the franchise, which were are steadily working on. Once we have our franchise up and running and piloted it, then the world is our oyster and everyone across the globe can benefit from learning about how to be more positive in a really enjoyable way. Using NLP and CBT is this fun way simplifies the tools and techniques used and the memories associated with the training are purely pleasurable. This means the brain is much more likely to store the information that has been taught! Power point presentations and handouts are out, at Positive Parties it’s about interaction and amusement, thus the enhanced learning.
So we have been very busy over the past 6 weeks and again to delivered to very different groups & organsiations but as always the Positive Parties model suits all and we had had great feedback.
We were down in Co. Kildare twice and delivered 3 Positive Parties in one day to Transition year students at St Wolstan’s Community School, Celbridge. These 15 -16 year old girls were amazing and they all totally embraced this training with a difference. We tailored the Positive Parties workshop to suit their needs which was focusing on what they could achieve in the year ahead and how to make the most out of their work experiences.
Our full day Positive Parties workshop for The City of Derry Airport management team & staff was fantastic. The staff members were all from very different backgrounds and departments – from the fire chief to head of security and the head of finance to marketing manager. Although there were a few that were apprehensive when they walked into the room and saw it all decorated like a party, once we all got going everyone eased in to being ‘out of their comfort zones’ and enjoyed the process! This ‘team building for a difference’ went down a treat and the operations manager, who couldn’t make this Positive Party but is attending the next one, could hear all the music and laughter as his office was above the board room. Fun was had by all but the NLP & CBT tools and techniques that were shared with the team will assist them to be and stay more positive both at home and at work.
In evaluating the PP at The City of Derry Airport, again keeping it simple, we asked staff to write comments up on the flip chart. This is what we they said. What did you learn? To let go of negative thoughts, To think positive, Tools to use in a negative situation, A lot, Positive attitude, About limiting beliefs. What did you like? The delivery style, The Wizard of Oz story, Totally different to any work team building related before, Atmosphere, Delivery. What would you change? Why change (the content,) Make it longer. So we have been asked back to the Airport very soon to deliver to the rest of the management team.
Being asked back is always a good sign and we have now delivered quite a few Positive Parties to Action for Children organisation. This month we were delivering for the Omagh team on World Mental Health Day to a group of 16 -20 years old and staff. Again it was wonderful yet so humbling. We ask people to share a positive memory with the group and one young women said hers was the day she went into care and that her foster family have had such a positive impact in her life and she will be able to share these values that with her children. Her first baby is due next month.
So a busy month ahead with bookings from SureStart, Praxis, Councils, schools, business’s & companies.
