The GFI Positive Party is launched, our NEW leaflet is printed & we are included in the Derry Healthy Cites -Foyle Health @Work newsletter

11.6.2012

Its the Positive Parties Latest News – Summer Edition. The next update will be on the first week of September. So, the kids can’t wait to be off school, adults prepare and pack for holidays and we all look forward to days in the sun and having lots of fun. It’s the energy that summer brings isn’t it? And yet many a day it is raining or cold, but should we let that spoil or summer?? Well, the answer is obviously NO! When it rains we have to think of now the farmers need it and how lucky we are in comparison to so many countries that have drought! That is not always our first thoughts though, when we have to search for an umbrella and jumper instead of sunglasses and sun cream! Being thankful for what we have and living in the moment are key to having a happy and positive attitude so keep that in mind next time you feel downhearted about the weather. Remember…… ‘the happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts!’

Well our excitement this summer is that we have a gorgeous new printed leaflet to distribute wherever we go. If you would like copies, please give us a call or send an email and we will get them out to you.

And do you know yet about Positive Parties @Sport? This exciting venture combines our expertise in positivity & our enthusiasm for sport. You can motivate & build your team spirit at the beginning of the season by throwing them a Positive Party, so keep that in mind for August and September.  We are already booked by a Community Centre in Donegal to deliver in November to their ‘Operation Transformation’ groups, who start this programme in September but may be losing motivation halfway through. An ideal time for a Positive Party!

Plus, we have started delivering our GFI (Go For It) Positive Party programme to schools in the North West. Our first Primary 7 GFI PP was a joint one of 2 P7 classes from St Patrick’s in Donemana & Donemana Primary School. A great chance for the children from both communities to get together, have fun and be positive! They loved it. Next we went to St Columba’s in Clady and again the children had a blast as well as taking away with them many tool and techniques of how to be and stay positive, especially in September when they make that transition into a new and much bigger school. We have more local schools to deliver the GFI PP in over the next few weeks and then pilot is complete and we are all ready to take it to the rest of the schools in the wider area for next year. We have meetings with Principals to discuss our aims and leaning objectives as well as promoting our Positive Parties for staff team building for teachers & class room assistants too.

Still on the Positive Parties @School, we delivered our third PP to the Student Leadership Team to St Cecelia’s College, Derry. Our first one was in June 2010 & now 2 years later we keep getting asked back to motivate, in a fun way, the girls who will lead the school, organise the formal and many other duties throughout the year. It is always a joy to work with these girls, every year the personalities are different but they all have one thing a great team spirit and willingness to work together to make it a great year for the whole school.

On the Positive Parties @Work front its busy there too. We have Derry Healthy Cites promoting us in their Foyle Health @Work newsletter and Denise is attending a conference on ‘The Value of a Healthy Workforce’ in Queen’s University, Belfast on the 19th June. We have Positive Parties workshops bookings in July with Customized Training Services (16 – 17 yearolds), team building for heads of departments in a Hotel in Derry-Londonderry and back again delivering to a group from RNIB, plus more.

The beginning & end of summer are always a good time for staff team building so do check out the new Positive Programme link on the @Work page. June, start  of July & end of August tend to be the popular times for managers to want to both motivate and appreciate their teams. That is the perfection of a Positive Party, while it teaches the participants a great deal, for them its far from boring & it doesn’t feel like hard work beause its such good fun.

And talking about fun! We ‘slow down’ in PPHQ from the 16th July – 10th August. Its a mixure of  quietly working in the background and taking annual summer holidays! We do have to ‘walk the talk’ and do the whole work / life balance thing! So if you need to contact us during this period about a booking a Positive Party workshop or any other queries, then please phone  0044 7790793130
