Well it is ‘back to porridge’, as they say and as we are almost half way through September already. It is as if time passes so quickly compared to when we were children and everything just happened as it happened and we had no concept of fast or slow. That is really about living in the present moment and that’s what Positive Parties implore us to do: that we savour every moment and we don’t get too caught up in the busyness, stresses & worries of life (which is easier said than done!).
Founder of Positive Parties, Denise Devlin, spent one month in Kilcar, Co. Donegal, ‘chilling out’ during the summer. She says “I had such a divine time reconnecting again. It took a few days to switch off and relax but once I did it was just wonderful. Where we say is quite remote and very beautiful. Anyone that comes to visit comments on how magical the place and this is why time seems to stand still. Of course because it is holiday time there aren’t the same stresses or urgencies to get things done or be somewhere or deadlines etc but what gets me thinking is ‘could life be like this all the time? Relaxed, calm and peaceful?’ By living in the moment we tend to look at life differently. Yes, we have to plan, but only when necessary and it is wise to have a vision and dreams of what we want to achieve.”
The vision for Positive Parties for the year head are big, yet realistic. We aim to continue working in all sectors and have Parties @Home, @Work and @School. In particular the school programme is very exciting and it has now branched out and is catering for youth training associations and voluntary organisations such as Sure Start, Young Parents Projects and Action for Children as well.
Our big news is that we are presently delivering & constantly developing a Corporate Programme which will suit companies, managers and leaders. Using some of Stephen R. Covey’s The 8th Habit….. From Effectiveness to Greatness teachings, plus a whole lot of Positive Parties fun and games, a totally unique learning environment is created. The new Corporate Programme is one of its kind. Forget about boring power point presentations and long winded talks on strategies and leadership, the Positive Parties Corporate Programme does what it says on the tin! It’s for Corporate’s, its positive and it’s a workshop party so it’s FUN! It fits in with any company ethos with integrity who wishes the best for not only their business but their staff and the environment.
We have been asked to run the training for a residential for ‘Hands That Talk’ in October. This is exciting for Positive Parties who will have to look of innovative ways to engage with the deaf community. Through the usual Positive Parties interactive games and tools of how to stay positive, our team and the interpreters will make this party training one that the participants will always remember.
Also, thank you to the ‘I-Women’, based at the RNIB (Royal National Institute for the Blind) office for the lovely thank you card saying “To Denise and assistant (Tanya), On behalf of Ann Marie Houston & the group, many thanks for such a fun afternoon.” Such words of thanks keep us all motivated and remind us that we are on the right path. We so enjoyed delivering this charity event and it is part of our objectives to run many more.
