An article on Positive Parties is featured in page 34 of the February edition of the City Of Culture Magazine. This is a free magazine found in all newsagents supermarkets, restaurants and hotels in and around Derry-Londonderry.
Thanks to John Norby for his impressive journalism and to Eibhlin Boydel, Director of Sound Communications, for her great public relations work for Positive Parties.
In this latest news I, Founder Denise Devlin, have taken the unedited answer to the question asked by reporter John “What basic steps would you say people should be taking in order to remain happy and fulfil their goals in these hard times?” So here it is-:
I totally believe in the whole ethos of Positive Parties and the slogan “change your vibes.” If everyone just took the time to change their vibration from negative thinking to positive thinking then the world would be a very different place. I see Positive Parties planting the seed for those who are new to the whole concept of positive thinking and assisting those who are aware with new tools and techniques. Basically, I hope to help make a difference in people’s lives. I suffered from post-natal depression myself seven years ago and know only too well what its like to feel extremely down, depressed and worthless. Starting this inspirational journey by becoming a life coach turned my life around for the better and by now assisting others to do the same is both so fulfilling and humbling for me.
I feel that whether you have a positive or negative approach to life it will determine if you are a happy or unhappy individual. These days so many people focus on material things to fulfil their need for happiness while really its the simple things in life that sustain us the most. Now with the recession and the economic climate the way it is this in an ideal opportunity to embrace simplicity and get back to basics.
Adopting an attitude of gratitude and extending kindness to those around us and the environment are steps in this direction to make changes that will be beneficial to our own mental well being, inner peace and the world around us.
Also, ‘living in the now’ as in ‘being present’ and enjoying life every moment instead of fretting about what happened in the past and worrying about what is going to happen in the future.
As for fulfilling goals, a very important step is to write them down. By doing that you are sending the energy out to the Universe and that is what you need to do to make it happen. Make a vision board or have a goal card in your wallet or purse so that you can look at them regularly and pursue the action plan needed to fulfill them. The most important step thought is to believe you can achieve them.
The way you think and feel about yourself has a much bigger impact on your life than you think. Your outlook colours your expectations of life. If you expect to succeed, you will. If you believe in yourself and your abilities you’ll have the confidence to make it happen.
My favorite quote of all time is from the 13th century poet Rumi and to me this says it all.
‘You were born with potential.
You were born with goodness and trust.
You were born with ideals and dreams.
You were born with greatness.
You were not meant for crawling, so don’t
You have wings.
Learn to use them and fly.’
